Thoughts on my “mission.”

I have learned through being a part of the 3 in 30 challenges for two months how valuable being goal-oriented can be.

I have seen the recommendations from bloggers that I deeply respect to develop a personal Mission Statement —  for all areas of our lives.  Motherhood, Teacherhood (in my case), and Blog-dom.  (Blog-hood just didn’t right.  Neither does blog-dom.  Meh.)

A very thought provoking, inspiring and challenging post by Gary Molander got the wheels turning in my head.

The scripture referenced in Gary’s post is 1 Corinthians 13:1.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

The bottom line is love.

In all that I do.
The bottom line is love.

In my home:

  • Will my boys remember how many times I told them that I loved them, or will they remember the times that I put off playing with them?
  • Will they remember the love that I showered upon them, or will they remember the things that took me away from them?

In my profession:

  • Will my students remember all the right fingerings for all of the notes, or will they remember that they are important,  and valuable?   (I can tell you which one I have made my mission, and the notes and fingerings are secondary.  This flies in the face of the “music education philosophy” books that I read and studied (and labored through) in college.)

In my blogging:

  • Do I point to the truth in everything I do?
  • Does the truth shine through, even if it is a post about getting healthy, or weight loss, or a 3 in 30 update?
  • Is having too much set content (multitudes on mondays, weigh-in wednesdays, and 3 in 30 updates on fridays) limiting the ways that God can use this blog?

I have some thinking to do.

What is your mission statement?

Do you have one for the different areas of your life, or do you have one that encompasses everything?

Things we never thought about back when I was ‘mothering’… I do hope they remember that all I did, I did with love… My Blog heading verse says so at this point – One of my digital SB layouts highlights me teaching my Granddaughter (now) how to bake pies and her comment that ‘everything I baked had my Secret Ingredient…LOVE’ – My verse intro to my recent post regarding the ’10 Things I Love About My Family” is the same as your Quote photo above…

Okay the Lord used your post to speak to me because I was just wondering if I needed to start those Wednesday Blog this or Saturday Blog that. We have to remember to leave room for God. Thanks!
